Job Description

A major property maintenance service provider is seeking a Bid Team Lead to join their growing Bid function in London. As the Bid Team Lead you will be responsible for defining and executing high-level bid strategies to secure high value contracts, directly influencing business growth and competitive positioning.

This role oversees bid governance, ensures alignment with business objectives, and fosters a high-performance, strategically driven bid team. The postholder will engage at a senior level with key stakeholders, including board-level executives, to shape and refine the organisation’s bid pipeline, ensuring sustainable business success.

Bid Team Lead Key Tasks / Activities / Responsibilities
– Oversee, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring excellence in bid execution.
– Enforce rigorous bid governance processes, ensuring submissions meet and exceed quality expectations.
– Manage and prioritise workloads across multiple, high-value tenders, maintaining efficiency and performance.
– Lead the development of innovative, compelling bid strategies that enhance win rates and long-term profitability.
– Implement data-driven insights and best practices to enhance bid processes and effectiveness.
– Develop and maintain a rolling bid pipeline, ensuring strategic prioritisation of high-value opportunities.
– Work closely with financial and commercial teams to ensure bid pricing strategies maximise ROI.
– Oversee budget and resource planning for the bid function, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising quality.
– Foster strategic partnerships with key clients to enhance the company’s market positioning.
– Work closely with operational teams to develop bids that reflect deliverable, high-value service propositions.
– Champion best practices and innovation across the bid function, driving process enhancements and efficiencies.
– Introduce new tools, templates, and methodologies to enhance bid processes.
– Benchmark bid performance against market leaders to identify improvement areas and emerging trends.

Bid Team Lead Person Specification
– Extensive expertise in bid management and public-sector tendering for contracts exceeding £1M.
– In-depth knowledge of the construction, social housing, and maintenance sectors.
– Advanced understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and procurement strategies.
– Strong commercial acumen with the ability to shape winning propositions aligned with financial objectives.
– Strong leadership with experience managing senior bid professionals.
– Ability to drive process transformation within the bid function.
– Expertise in bid writing, storytelling, and persuasive proposal development.
– Extensive experience managing and leading high-value, business-critical bids.
– Proven track record of shaping and implementing winning bid strategies.
– Demonstrated success in influencing executive-level stakeholders and clients.
– Willingness to travel across the UK to engage with key clients and stakeholders.
