A security cleared specialist in estimating, cost modelling and bid pricing. Capable of leading teams, setting strategy and direction and undertaking estimating, cost modelling and bid pricing work directly. Areas of particular specialism are: absorption and value pricing; international currencies; high risk financial and contractual terms; contract types such as cost plus, firm fixed price, target cost and single / sole source; optimisation of cost and price across delivery, risk mitigation, margin and win-price; cash-flow modelling and presentation to the client.
Key Achievements
Successfully led numerous estimating, cost modelling and bid pricing teams in high pressure situations; set winning pricing strategies particularly for firm fixed price contracts; forged collaborative working relationships between sales, operations, bidding, programme management, legal and finance teams / directorates; created innovative solutions to estimate and quantify the cost & price mix early in the bid cycle.
Led projects to improve estimating capabilities and competitive pricing capabilities; pioneered 'activity based cost' models to govern strategic business planning and regulatory funding; cost modelled, priced and won over £300m of revenue to-date; designed and delivered bespoke business-user Excel spreadsheet training courses.
Experience
Over 15 years of engineering and finance experience across a number of business sectors, applying a strong attention to detail and highly developed partnering, leadership, analytical & optimisation skills. A specialist in Excel-based cost control, financial and business modelling, pricing and analysis, influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organisation and winning multi £m contracts through competitive tendering. Prior to project work, held senior in-house roles such as the Head of Pricing & Analysis and Head of Estimating & Cost Engineering at large multi-national companies.
