What’s the one thing you wish you knew before entering the profession?
Over the last 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with thousands of bid professionals, from fresh talent to seasoned leaders.
One thing I’ve noticed?
Almost everyone has a moment early in their career where they say, “I wish someone had told me that sooner.”
Whether it’s the intensity of deadlines, the importance of stakeholder management, or the art of storytelling in a response; the learning curve can be steep. I’ve seen first-hand how much growth, resilience, and strategy the role demands.
One thing I wish I’d known before stepping into bid recruitment? Just how many job titles and naming conventions are used interchangeably – often describing the same role. It’s a constant reminder of how important it is to read between the lines and truly understand the needs behind the title.
So here’s a question for the community:
“What’s the one thing you wish you knew before entering the bid profession?”
Let’s share some wisdom and help others navigate the path with a little more clarity (and a little less caffeine-fuelled panic 😅).
