Proposal Writer
Job Description
A well-established software organisation is seeking a skilled Proposal Writer to produce high-quality, persuasive, and customer-focused proposal content. This role plays a key part in supporting sales enablement efforts and contributing to the acquisition of valuable business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
– Craft compelling, well-structured proposals in line with best practices and a defined style guide
– Review and refine proposal content for clarity, consistency, tone, and compliance
– Edit and rework content from various contributors to ensure alignment with proposal objectives
– Collaborate with sales teams, bid teams, and subject matter experts to develop accurate and persuasive content
– Manage proposal writing and review tasks within agreed timelines
– Identify and escalate non-standard terms, risks, and unapproved deliverables
– Facilitate kick-off and storyboarding sessions, define win themes, and prepare proposal templates
– Stay informed on product updates, industry trends, and conduct market research as needed
– Maintain content libraries, templates, knowledge bases, and CRM systems
– Track proposal metrics, including win/loss data, and maintain relevant dashboards
– Contribute to knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives within the sales function
Skills and Experience Required:
– Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; strong skills in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms
– Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities in English
– Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret complex pricing structures
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
– Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines
– Experience in proposal graphics is a plus
Preferred Background:
– Proven experience in writing and editing customer-focused proposals, ideally in a related industry
– Familiarity with public sector procurement and bidding processes is advantageous
– Experience in leading or participating in review meetings and storyboarding sessions is desirable
– APMP certification or membership is a plus
– A degree in English, creative writing, or a related field is preferred
