Profile


Leads all aspects of translating new business opportunities into high value contracts, assembling and developing high performing bid teams and practices to achieve repeatable success. Able to operate autonomously and accept full accountability for business / financial outcomes but also adept at integrating seamlessly into teams at all levels from 'C-suite' to individual delivery units, in essentially any business or technical discipline. Past successes span contract values of £100m to £10bn, across industries including IT / communications, aviation, aerospace, rail, defence/public sector, utilities, finance and retail.

Key Achievements


Won or created the winning proposition for £multi-million / billion contracts for prominent multinationals including Microsoft, Siemens, SITA (airline telecoms), Rolls-Royce aero-engines, Westinghouse, Airbus, Boeing, Thales. Developed a novel output-based service delivery model for a core QinetiQ business and identified opportunities for digital twin/thread - based business streams. Led successful start-up ventures for Siemens, SITA and Rolls-Royce and created new business opportunities for an innovative location-based services technology. Managed, as interim General Manager, post-acquisition integration of a series of BAE Systems avionics product lines and Dunlop Aerospace manufacturing sites for Meggitt PLC.

Experience


Progressed from working level technical writing, PR and advertising for the leading UK science-based consultancy to strategic and operational business, sales and marketing management, up to and including Board level at Rolls-Royce. Established a freelance interim management / consultancy business in 2001 and fulfilled multi-year and / or multi-project roles with clients including Airbus, QinetiQ, Thales, Meggitt and Balfour Beatty. Managed large, complex business-critical programmes and must-win bids for major UK and international corporations and coached/guided bid teams in companies including Microsoft, CGI and Babcock. Conceived, developed and implemented a business winning process and capability for Reaction Engines, guided and facilitated bid strategy for Microsoft, IrvinGQ and CGI and reviewed and contributed to proposal writing for Babcock and XEIAD.
